Acts 4:29,30
"And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus." (ESV)
The religious authorities threatened the disciples not to speak or teach in Jesus' name. The disciples got together and prayed.
Three things to notice about this prayer by the disciples:
1) The disciples (when threatened) prayed to God
- see vs. 24 "Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea..."
2) The disciples prayed for boldness
- Notice that instead of praying for the threat to be removed, the disciples prayed that the Lord would "give them boldness" to speak His Word
3) The disciples prayed that the Lord would "heal" and do "signs & wonders"
- The disciples knew that if the Lord performed healing and miracles through their ministry, people would know that the message they brought was from God
